Activities and Funding
Research Projects
These are chosen to achieve a balanced programme of strategic long-term and more immediate applied projects, to ensure the profitable growing of a healthy UK sugar beet crop, now and in the foreseeable future.
Technology Transfer Projects
These are designed to communicate to growers the results of funded research, interpreted into best practice, and technical advice for the growing of sugar beet.
Who Pays?
Research funding is provided jointly by UK sugar beet growers and the processor (British Sugar plc).
Research Collaboration and International Links
BBRO is keen to ensure active collaboration among research contractors wherever possible.
Links with researchers worldwide are encouraged and a close liaison is maintained with the Institut International de Recherches Betteravieres (IIRB) in Brussels.
