The crop production team undertake research to ensure the best possible guidance is available on farm to maximise crop performance and deliver a resilient and sustainable sugar beet crop. We work closely with the crop protection team to ensure that pest, disease and weed challenges are also considered in any trials that are undertaken.
Current areas of research focus are optimising nitrogen use, reducing tillage intensity, cover crop use and varietal performance under drought.
The crop production team also support on-farm strip trials to help identify solutions to challenges that require field scale approaches.
