SporeWatch
Spore Monitoring
BBRO's Spore monitoring network is now live across our 20 CropWatch sites.
Spornado samplers are trapping spores of both Rust and Cercospora leaf spot, which are then processed in the BBRO lab at Norwich. These results give us an early warning of when spores are arriving in your local crops and are provided for guidance regarding progression of these diseases across the UK.
When visible symptoms of either Rust, Cercospora or Powdery Mildew are seen at each CropWatch site, then the marker changes colour accordingly. If a fungicide has been applied at a site, then the marker turns blue for the following week.
It remains vital that crop walking is regularly undertaken and fungicides are applied to crops once disease symptoms are observed following a recommendation from a BASIS qualified Agronomist.
